What
above ground filter & pump package is
right for me?
The size of pump that your
above ground pool will require
is solely dependant on the size
of your above ground swimming
pool. A general rule of
thumb to follow is if your pool
is under 24ft Round, you will
need a 1HP pump. Any above
ground pool over 24ft round will
require at least a 1 1/2HP pump.
Once you've determined the pool
pump size, you can determine
which filter style is right for
you. There are 3 filter
styles including Sand, Cartridge
& Diatomaceous Earth (D.E.)
filters.
What type of
above ground pool filter
should I choose?
In order to choose the right
filter for you, we'll explain a
few of the differences between
the three types of filters.
A sand filter can filter
anywhere between 20-40 microns.
It is the most popular and most
affordable type of filtration
used for swimming pools.
Sand filters use a special
filter sand called silica sand
to filter and trap particles.
A cartridge filter can filter
particles as small as 10-20
microns and uses a cartridge
filter to trap the particles.
The cartridge element can be
removed and cleaned by using
your garden hose. The
third option for your filter
system is a D.E., otherwise
known as a Diatomaceous Earth
filter. This type of
filter is considered by many
pool experts to be the finest
filtration method. The
filtration range of a D.E.
filter is 1-3 microns and it
removes smaller particles than
both the sand and cartridge
filters. D.E. filters use
a porous powder (Diatomaceous
Earth) which has microscopic
openings similar to a sponge
which traps particles as they
pass through.
