Pool Filters

Your pool filter is another major component of your pool so that you can spend more time in your pool and worry less about having to keep it clean, because your filter and pump are working hard for you.  Generally you will find three different types of filters for your pool and all three serve a different purpose.

The most efficient type is the Diatomaceous Earth (DE) filters particles down to 3-5 microns in your pool.  A properly sized DE filter can usually go 4 weeks in between backwashings.

A sand filter is graded to capture particles between 20-100 microns.  As a sand filter begins to collect dirt it increases in efficiency trapping more dirt.  It is suggested that your sand bed be replaced once every seven years.

A cartridge filter is an ideal choice for a spa or above ground pool.  This filter will trap particles from 25-100 microns.  To clean this filter you just need to remove the cartridge from the tank and clean it with a high pressured hose.
